Year 3
Welcome to Year 3!
In Year 3, our class teachers are Miss Quayle, Miss Johnson and Mr Holt.
We will be learning about lots of exciting things over the year, including the Stone Age, Mining, Mountains &Volcanoes and Fossils. You can see an overview of all the things we will learn over the year in our long-term plan document below. Our latest newsletter is also at the bottom of this page.
Here are our Year 3 classrooms.
Have a look at some of the things we have been doing in our lessons this half-term...
Year 3 have been celebrating International Happiness Day this week. They have placed some of their top tips for feeling happy around our school grounds for anyone that may need a pick-me-up! What is happiness to you?
In school, we have been celebrating British Science week by creating rocket mice!
Here are some photos to show how our investigation went:
In Forest School, we went on a hedgehog adventure.
We created our own prickle of hedgehogs using clay and match sticks, then took them on an adventure. We had to consider the needs of the animals and what they required to survive.
Our children have loved visiting Sandal Library this half-term!
As well as enjoying some books, we completed mining pictures and went on a mining word hunt within the Library garden. It was an enjoyable afternoon for us all!
Take a look at some of our learning from earlier this year...
In Year 3, children LOVED making toys using pneumatic mechanisms to bring them to life. Here are a few examples for you to enjoy.
In Collective Worship, we have loved learning about Chinese New Year!
As it is the year of the snake in 2025, we have created snakes that are decorated with our hopes for this year.
As a part of our History Mining topic, we were lucky enough to talk to a real Coal Miner!
We spent some time learning more about the coal mine at the National Coal Mining Museum before having the opportunity to ask the Coal Miner some of our questions.
As a part of our Science lessons, we have been learning about rocks. This week, we have been investigating different ways that our rocks could be sorted and organised by considering their different properties.
Within our Forest School sessions, we have been using natural resources to make works of art.
Can you tell what we have created?
