Year 2 amazing learning
The week commencing 10th March has been British Science week, so all the children in school have taken part in a science investigation about 'Rocket Mice'. The children created their mouse, made predictions and investigated how far they could propel it using different-sized bottles. It was lots of fun, and we used lots of our science skills.

Last term we went back in time and learnt more about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. We began our learning by thinking about what life was like in the 1800's and how medicine and caring for people was very different to how it is today.
We created timelines to show the key events in the lives of these amazing individuals and thought about how their lives were similar and different because of perceptions about their race.
We explored artifacts, made observations and asked historical questions.
In Design and Technology lessons we used a familiar tale to help us become product designers! We all know and love Goldilocks and the three bears but it got us thinking about the perfect chair for our class bear. We thought about what a chair needs to be successful and how we can use our maths knowledge to help us create the perfectly shaped chair leg. Using play dough and slants we created 3d shapes to ensure our legs were stable and sturdy. We then turned our thoughts to the seat and how we could join materials together to create a comfortable and safe seat for our bears. We loved turning our designs into actual chairs and seeing teddies sat on them!
